The holiday spirit is alive and well in Hamilton County where the local police department has teamed up with a charitable program to bring joy to children this Christmas. The Fishers Police Department recently posted on their Facebook page about their participation in the county's "Shop for Kids" initiative, which combines fun and generosity for a heartfelt cause.
Engaging the community and contributing to a good cause, this marked the department's first involvement with Shop for Kids. The event was packed with activities including breakfast, a ride in a police car and a visit from Santa who arrived by helicopter. Children had the opportunity to check off items from their Christmas wish lists. "We had a great morning shopping with Hamilton County’s Shop for Kids!" the Fishers Police Department claimed on social media.
Through the Cops and Kids Fund, which is funded by community donations, the department was able to contribute $3,000 to support the event. This act of kindness reflects the department's commitment to giving back to their community particularly during the holiday season.
A special mention was made to FPD Detective Tracy Jones, acknowledging her initiating role in the Cops and Kids Fund, and her continued involvement as a board member of Shop for Kids. For nearly 13 years, Detective Jones' efforts have been instrumental in bringing joy not just during Christmas, but throughout the whole year.
