A Fort Wayne man is facing murder charges following a Tuesday evening shooting in downtown Fort Wayne. The Allen County Coroner has identified the victim as Scott Reed Armstrong, 45, also from Fort Wayne, who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, ruling the death a homicide, according to WANE.
The incident took place near East Washington Boulevard and Clay Street at a downtown gas station. Domonique Drew, 34, was arrested within hours of the incident, during a traffic stop only two blocks from the crime scene. The 21Alive News has confirmed that the shooting victim was found gravely injured in the parking lot and later died in a local hospital.
Drew is currently detained at the Allen County Jail, and an initial hearing is slated to formally charge him with the murder. Online court records indicated he was expected to appear in Allen Superior Court 5 on yesterday morning, WISH-TV reports. Details about the circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.
