If you're looking for a chill way to start the New Year and mingle with local law enforcement outside the usual context, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office has an event on ice that just might pique your interest. They announced their 2nd Annual Blades & Badges, set to be a crowd-pleaser at Noblesville's titled Federal Hill Commons Ice Plaza Rink, via a recent social media post, inviting folks to lace up their skates and join officers for a slip-and-slide soirée under the winter sky.
The family-friendly event, scheduled for January 2, 2026, promises a blend of frosty fun and community engagement as attendees have the opportunity to glide across the rink with deputies and corrections officers, all while enjoying free hot chocolate assuming supplies last, and it appears there will even be swag up for grabs, a nice bonus to those looking for a little more than just their standard run-of-the-mill night on the ice. And while the phrase good cop, bad cop might conjure a carousel of cinematic clichés, this event offers a chance to see the people behind the badge in a new light, quite literally with Noblesville's winter sky above them.
Admission includes skate rental, running at $13 for those 13 and over, or $11 for the younger crowd, that's under the age of 12, and for the savvy skaters who've got their own blades, they are more than welcome to bring them along. Keeping with the practical, the event description includes the usual reminders to dress warmly in layers with gloves and hats; waivers will need a signature before anyone hits the ice, and all children under 10 need to stick close to an adult while they skate. Gratitude goes to Noblesville Parks & Recreation for partnering with the Sheriff's Office.
