The Houston Texans defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 20-16 this past weekend, securing a spot in the NFL playoffs and eliminating the Indianapolis Colts from postseason contention. The win extended the Texans’ winning streak to eight games, The Philippine Star reported.
The Colts, who had an 8-2 record earlier in the season, struggled in recent weeks due to losses and injuries, including quarterback Daniel Jones, who suffered a torn Achilles tendon in Week 14. The Athletic noted that the Colts became only the sixth team since the AFL-NFL merger to start a season strongly and miss the playoffs.
In the game against Houston, the Texans’ defense recorded five sacks and forced two turnovers, while quarterback C.J. Stroud threw two touchdown passes. The Colts will play their final game of the season without a playoff berth, and questions remain about the team’s leadership and roster decisions.
The AFC playoff teams now include Denver, New England, Jacksonville, Buffalo, and the Los Angeles Chargers.
