
A 19-year-old Indiana University student is fighting for his life after a collision with a car while bicycling last Friday afternoon near Bloomington, Monroe County. WRTV reports that the student was navigating the intersection of N. Bottom Road and W. Maple Grove Road, just over seven miles from IU's Bloomington campus, when the crash occurred at approximately 3:47 p.m.
The student, whose name has not been released, was quickly transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital and remains in a condition described as critical, authorities say the involved motorist, a 20-year-old male driving a Honda Accord, stayed on the scene and is actively contributing to the investigation. No citations have been announced and information is still coming together, as investigators call on witnesses or anyone with footage of the crash to step forward and, contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at (812) 349-2781, according to statements obtained by both WTHR and FOX59.
