As the winter air ushers in the season for outdoor fun, a community initiative in Lawrence is generating warmth of its own kind. In an embodiment of community spirit, Lawrence Community Park is once again hosting the Free Sled Library, a no-cost resource that offers sleds to anyone looking to enjoy the local sledding hill.
The sleds, housed in a distinctive red container near the park's sledding area at 5301 N. Franklin Rd, are available to all park visitors. A heartening example of generosity, the majority of the sleds have been donated by members of the community themselves, according to a recent Facebook post by the City of Lawrence Indiana. The only ask from the organizers is for sled-users to return them to the container after their downhill adventures, ensuring the joy is passed on.
