A series of raids and arrests have brought a significant drug operation in Indianapolis to a halt, thanks to the collaborative efforts of local and federal agencies. On December 11, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), Indiana State Police (ISP), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) executed a lengthy investigation that culminated in the arrest of two men, Devin Wilson, 39, and Michael Wilson, 37, for allegedly dealing in large quantities of narcotics across Indianapolis.
According to an IMPD social media post, the agencies were to successfully decipher the operations of the trafficking organization after several months of determined investigative work. A traffic stop turned pursuit on December 11 saw Devin Wilson allegedly throw several grams of fentanyl out of his vehicle before being detained without further incident. He faces preliminary charges including possession and dealing of narcotics, as well as resisting law enforcement.
Later that same day, search warrants at two residences on the southeast side of the city resulted in the seizure of an array of narcotics, including 1.5 kilograms of suspected fentanyl, 3.5 pounds of methamphetamine, 424 grams of MDMA, and a sizable collection of marijuana and marijuana vapes. Law enforcement also confiscated around 4,000 prescription pills, five firearms—with two confirmed as stolen—and roughly $90,000 in cash, as detailed in the IMPD report.
Further evidence gathered helped in securing an arrest warrant for Michael Wilson, who was apprehended on December 17 by IMPD personnel, with aid from the IMPD SWAT. He is preliminarily charged with multiple drug-related offenses and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. "These arrests are the result of months of relentless, coordinated work by our investigators and partner agencies, and I couldn’t be prouder of their commitment to protecting this city," IMPD Lieutenant Gough conveyed in the IMPD statement. "Taking this amount of deadly narcotics and illegal firearms off our streets has a real, lasting impact. It sends a clear message that we will continue working together to hold those who harm our community accountable."
The fate of the Wilsons now rests in the hands of the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, which will make the final charging decisions. While the charges are severe, it is imperative to remember that these are merely accusations. Under the law, Devin and Michael Wilson should be considered innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
