A late-night drive turned into a shooting scene in East Oakland yesterday when a 31-year-old man was hit multiple times while sitting in his parked car on the 6700 block of Eastlawn Street. The gunfire erupted at about 11:32 PM, and the victim was struck at least twice before being rushed to a hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
Police Say Masked Shooter Stepped Out And Opened Fire
Oakland police told reporters that a masked man pulled up in a pickup truck, got out, walked up to the parked car and opened fire at point-blank range, then sped off, according to SFist. Officers canvassed the 6700 block of Eastlawn Street, spoke with potential witnesses and searched for evidence but made no arrests at the scene.
Victim, Hospital And Tip Line
The victim, described by authorities as a 31-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital, where he was reported to be in critical but stable condition, as reported by The Mercury News. Police have not released a detailed description of the shooter or the pickup and say the motive for the attack is still under investigation.
