The National Weather Service in Nashville has updated its forecast for the upcoming week as Nashville residents prepare for fluctuating temperatures and potential showers. According to the latest weather update, the overcast conditions are here to stay, with the city experiencing a mild overnight low of 64 degrees and a comfortable high near 74 degrees on Sunday.
The weather, as the week progresses, is expectedly to take a brisk turn. South-southwest winds are to pick up speed on Sunday with possible gusts reaching up to 35 mph. A significant temperature drop is anticipated by Sunday night as showers move in before 2 am, and lows plummet to around 30 degrees. The arrival of the cold front will be accompanied by winds that could gust as high as 40 mph, indicating a brisk and blustery end to the weekend.
Monday's outlook is set to be sunny despite the chill, with highs striving to reach 38 degrees. The forecast suggests that even as the sun graces the skies, west-northwest winds will persist, maintaining a brisk pace at around 15 mph, with possible gusts as high as 25 mph. Nashvillians can expect a partly cloudy Monday night, with temperatures dropping to a low near 22 degrees.
Temperatures on Tuesday will cling close to the 37-degree mark, aided by a northwest wind of 5 to 10 mph. Clear conditions will follow into Tuesday night, dipping to around 24 degrees before Wednesday ushers in a higher high nearing 48 degrees. This reprieve, however, will be shortly lived as another system of clouds makes its way across the city skyline by Friday night, bringing with it a 20 percent chance of showers and a slightly warmer night with lows around 39 degrees.
The forecast ahead of New Year's Day is looking bright with a sunny high near 51 degrees. Those planning outdoor celebrations can take heart from the brief respite from the cold. However, by Saturday, the chance of showers makes a return at 30 percent, allowing for a partly sunny atmosphere and highs peaking near 57 degrees—a tumultuous yet fittingly unpredictable end to the weather week in Nashville.
