Provo residents should be ready for some traffic disruptions as the University Avenue Bridge undergoes construction this weekend. The Provo City Government shared a social media update that starting at 8 PM on Friday, December 19, crews will be hard at work on utility relocation efforts stretching from 920 South to 780 South along University Avenue. The late-night operations are slated for Friday and Saturday and will spill over into daytime on Sunday.
For those planning to travel through the construction area around University Avenue, the update advises carving out some extra commute time. Lane closures will be a reality, and with flaggers on hand, they'll be working to usher traffic safely past the work zones, according to a Facebook post by the Provo City Government.
The labor-intensive nature of the bridge construction is not to be underestimated, as Provo continues to enhance its transportation infrastructure. Motorists have been recommended to stay alert and adhere to the guidance of traffic control in the region. "Please plan extra time, follow all traffic control, and use caution when traveling through the construction zone. Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve the corridor," the Provo City Government stated.
