
Early Saturday morning, gunfire and the subsequent theft of a vehicle prompted a shelter-in-place order in the Rollingwood area. CBS Austin reports that at approximately 3:43 a.m. on the 3200 block of Park Hills Drive, a Rollingwood police officer responded to the sound of gunshots while on patrol. After investigating the scene, the officer determined the shots were related to an auto theft.
Joining forces to canvas the area, assistance came from the West Lake Hills Police Department, the Austin Police Department, and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, although they did not find the suspect after a search. According to KVUE, the stolen vehicle was later recovered. Telling residents to remain indoors, the Rollingwood Police Department issued a shelter-in-place order, which was lifted by 9 a.m., as cited by CBS Austin.
The police authorities have confirmed that no injuries were sustained during the incident, and they have stated there is no present danger to the community. Currently, the investigation into the circumstances of the vehicle theft and the unlocated suspect continues.
