
A tragic incident unfolded in Southeast Austin on Sunday morning that claimed the life of an unidentified woman and led to intoxication manslaughter charges against another. According to FOX 7 Austin, the collision involved multiple vehicles and occurred around 9:30 a.m. on the 3100 block of South US HWY 183. The fatal sequence of events began with a wrong-way driver heading south in the northbound lanes, as reported by CBS Austin, leading to the multi-vehicle crash near McCall Lane.
The driver of a hatchback involved in the accident was pronounced dead at the scene while Angelicque Bramlett, 27, the driver of an SUV was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter, traffic in the area was disrupted for several hours while the scene was investigated, and the road remained closed until reopening just before 1:10 p.m. Bramlett is currently being held in the Travis County jail, however, details regarding her bond have not yet been released as of Monday afternoon.
The aftermath of this crash contributes to a worrying trend in Austin's traffic fatalities. As it stands, this event marks the 94th fatal crash in Austin for the year 2025, with the total number of fatalities rising to 98. These figures are in close step with the previous year's, where 93 fatal crashes and 100 fatalities had been recorded by the same date in 2024.
