Last week, a routine sale in Brown County escalated into violence, leaving two men injured from gunshot wounds. The incident occurred at a Dollar General store on State Road 135 in Beanblossom, as reported by FOX59. The Brown County Sheriff's Office responded to the shooting on Saturday afternoon, where they found Kayden Barnard and Corbyn Harris, both suffering from injuries.
Barnard had arranged to sell a firearm to Trey Boyd, but the deal turned sour when Boyd, along with Harris and a juvenile, allegedly attempted to rob Barnard of the weapon. A struggle ensued, during which Barnard was shot, prompting him to return fire and hit Harris. A third individual was also detained at the scene but was later treated for hypothermia and released, according to WISH-TV.
Following the incident, both the victim and Harris were taken to area hospitals and later transferred to IU Health Methodist Hospital for treatment. The Brown County Prosecutor, Ted Adams, has since brought formal charges against Harris and Boyd, with the two facing robbery charges. Details of the charges against the juvenile are currently sealed in juvenile court, reported by WTHR.
Late developments indicate that Brown County officials granted Prosecutor Adams a 72-hour extension to further investigate the matter. This involved more decisions which led to the charging of Boyd and Harris.
