South Florida is starting 2026 with unusually cool weather, as Miami sees lower-than-normal temperatures on New Year’s Day. As the National Weather Service reports, we kicked off the New Year with a fair morning at 49°F, hinting at a sunny day ahead with a high near 67 and calm northwest winds.
The weather trend, however, appears to be taking a turn towards milder measures as, according to NBC 6, the area continues a warming trend with temps inching upward, morning lows are getting closer to 60 and afternoon highs are looking to reach the 80s there's even a slight chance we might see a few isolated raindrops come Sunday.
As we head into tonight, the forecast from The National Weather Service points to clear skies with a low around 52 and a light north wind. Friday is set to follow suit, delivering more sunshine and a pleasant high near 72 with gentle breezes.
The agreeable conditions are expected to persist through the weekend; Saturday's mostly sunny skies are slated for a high near 75, and by Sunday we may contend with some light, scattered showers but overall, the high near 81 and sunny forecast indicates a predominantly warm end to the week, the imperfections of a stray shower may interrupt our sun-soaked reverie, but with winds remaining mild, it seems the elements have deemed to favor us after all.
Looking ahead, the National Weather Service predicts a succession of mostly sunny days, with highs consistently near the mid-70s, though there's a continued hint at a 20 percent chance of showers as we get into the early part of next week. Miami nights, meanwhile, are projected to stay partly cloudy with lows hovering in the low to mid-60s, sustaining this pattern of cool evenings and warm days into the foreseeable future.
