The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit has apprehended 21-year-old Rick Glascoe on a standing murder warrant linked to the October 2025 shooting of Tervon Townsend, as detailed in a recent post on the IMPD News Facebook page. Townsend, 22, was fatally shot at a gas station on Kentucky Avenue; diagnosed at the scene with gunshot wounds, he succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to hospital.
IMPD officers had responded to the distressing call at the gas station on the evening of October 11, where the discovery of Townsend, injured and downed, set off immediate medical intervention and an ensuing homicide investigation, which found potential forensic evidence alongside video snippets and eyewitness accounts through extensive area canvassing and diligent work by detectives over the following days they were able to trace leads that pointed to Glascoe as the perpetrator.
The arrest warrant for Glascoe, defining his charge as murder, was officially filed on November 19th, after meticulous investigative work gradually pieced together the key elements of the case. Within two months, VCU detectives were successful in locating Glascoe in Noblesville, Indiana, where on Monday, they managed a peaceful arrest, taking him into custody, Glascoe has been connected to the case but holds the presumption of innocence as per legal standard, until if a conviction declares otherwise.
It's instrumental to underscore an arrest and criminal charge are far from a declaration of guilt, as the official statement from IMPD reinforces, "An arrest and a charge are merely accusations, and Scott should be considered innocent unless and until proven guilty."
