Central Pierce Fire & Rescue used social media to express gratitude and reflect on its accomplishments. During a year that saw more than 45,500 emergency calls, a figure still considered unofficial, the department remained a vital presence in providing safety and education throughout the community.
Central Pierce Fire & Rescue marked a significant milestone this year with its merger with Graham and Orting Valley Fire & Rescue, a move approved by local voters. The department’s efforts extended beyond emergency response, participating in more than 250 community events and outreach programs. It also promoted safety education to over 9,500 students and expanded its digital presence, reaching 10 million social media views and receiving over 1,000 media mentions.
The fabric of any service institution comprises the individuals who don their uniforms with purpose and pride. Thus, the Central Pierce Fire & Rescue was also keen to celebrate internal milestones. "Celebrated the retirement of 16 employees," reads their statement, honoring the legacies that have buoyed the district. Promotions were plentiful, with 32 members advancing to various leadership positions. Central Pierce also bolstered their forces, welcoming 45 new firefighter/EMTs and firefighter/paramedics, in addition to expanding their administrative and logistics team with eight hires.
Education played a crucial role in their outreach, preparing individuals to respond to crises proactively. Over 675 citizens were hosted in life-saving skill classes such as CPR/First Aid, Fire Extinguisher training, and SafeSitter courses, forging a better-prepared community. As Central Pierce turns the page to 2026, it carries with it the momentum of last year and the anticipation of "we are excited to build on this foundation, strengthen partnerships, and continue creating a safer, more resilient community together."
