Residents of a home on Pee Dee Branch Rd can breathe a little easier tonight thanks to the swift response from local fire departments. Earlier this evening, the Cottontown Fire Department, alongside mutual aid departments White House Community VFD and Shackle Island VFD, responded to a chimney and structure fire that threatened to engulf a residence. A social media post from the Cottontown Fire Department detailed the events, applauding the coordinated efforts of the multiple agencies involved, which helped to save the house from destruction. According to the Cottontown Fire Department-TN, "Additional manpower was requested from Number One VFD."
The initial response was spearheaded by the White House Community VFD Brush 51, which happened to be in the vicinity when the call came in. They swiftly made a size-up, forcibly made entry into the home, and began combating the flames with extinguishers provided by the sheriff's department. "They made a size-up, made entry, formulated an attack plan and started fighting the fire with extinguishers provided by sheriffs," the Cottontown Fire Department stated in their post. Following the initial actions taken by Brush 51, the arrival of E71 marked the execution of their pre-established attack plan, which ultimately led to the saving of the home despite the heavy damage inflicted upon its second floor.
The successful containment and extinguishing of the fire was a joint effort, reflecting the effectiveness of community and interagency cooperation. "Thanks to all the responding fire departments, Sumner County EMS and Sheriff's Department. Well Done!" the Cottontown Fire Department expressed in the same social media post.
