In observance of MLK Day of Service, the City of Fishers, Indiana, is calling upon its community to come together for a food drive aimed at supporting local families facing hardships. Today, the city initiated an effort to collect donations that could be transformed into tangible aid for those in need. Recognizing the power of collective action, the city strategically stationed donation sites at multiple Kroger locations throughout Fishers.
The food drive, which took place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., welcomed contributions at three key Kroger supermarkets. These locations included 9799 E. 116th Street, 11700 Olio Road, and 7272 Fishers Crossing Drive, a move that provided ample opportunity for residents to participate, regardless of their whereabouts in the city. In a statement on the official City of Fishers Facebook page, the government underscored the impact of the drive, asserting, "Every donation helps turn a day of service into real support for our neighbors."
For those unable to make it to a physical donation site, the city made accommodations to ensure that your ability to contribute was not hindered. Links to online wishlists hosted by Amazon and Walmart were disseminated, allowing for digital participation.
