A former Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer, Kamal Bola, has been convicted of various sex crimes against a child, reports FOX59. The Hendricks County jury found Bola guilty on Thursday of six criminal counts, including Level 1 and Level 4 felonies for child molesting, sexual misconduct with a minor, voyeurism, and obstruction of justice. The only charge for which Bola was not found guilty was an additional Level 4 felony count for child molesting.
Bola, who was a six-year veteran of the force before his arrest in September 2024, admitted to inappropriately touching the child and using a small camera to spy on the victim in her room, according to WISH-TV; this came to light when the juvenile victim discovered the camera hidden on a bookshelf, leading to an investigation by the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office, nude photos of the victim were also found on Bola’s phone by authorities.
Following the discovery and subsequent arrest, former IMPD Chief Chris Bailey recommended termination of Bola's employment to the IMPD Civilian Police Merit Board, while Bola resigned from the police department on the same day he was arrested for a second time for violating a protection order, a report from FOX59 details.
After the initial denial of the accusations, Bola allegedly confessed during an interview, stating he "f***ed up," as per WTHR; his sentencing is slated for February 24, 2026, and he is currently held at the Hendricks County Jail without bond, he is also due to stand trial for a misdemeanor charge of invasion of privacy on the same day.
