Bracing for the varied whims of Mother Nature, Indianapolis residents find themselves at the mercy of a dynamic weather pattern set to unfold over the course of the week. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), today's mostly sunny disposition, graced by a comfortable high near 48, will gradually give way to increased cloudiness and a low around 39 tonight, accompanied by a potential sprinkle of precipitation and patches of fog.
The weeks weather narrative continues with a chance of sprinkles and a slight drizzle both early Tuesday morning and then again after 1pm, supplementing the mostly cloudy skies and a high edging up towards a more balmy 56 degrees. As the NWS has laid out in their detailed forecast, winds are predicted to pick up, gusting as high as 24 mph. Tuesday night's clouds hover as the temperature dip to an equilibrium state around 36 degrees, with the wind settling into a calm lull post-midnight.
Midweek promises glimpses of sunlight with Wednesday expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 53, giving residents a brief respite before the latter part of the week. The serenity is short-lived as Thursday brings with it a 70% chance of rain in the afternoon, escalating to an 80% chance of rain and potential thunderstorms by nightfall. However, temperatures will continue rising, with Friday's highs reaching near 62 and a sustained likelihood of rain and thunderstorms into the afternoon.
Closing out the week, the NWS warns of a slight possibility of rain and snow on Saturday, casting a variable sky with partial sun and temperatures peaking around 45. The precipitation story wanes to a 20 percent chance of snow by Saturday night as the mercury plummets toward 26. And, it would appear that Sunday serves as a stark reminder that winter's end is yet an elusive beast, with partly sunny conditions battling a frigid high near 35.
