
A cold weather advisory was issued early today for much of Indiana, including central, east central, north central, southwest, and west central regions. Wind chills could drop as low as 16 degrees below zero early Monday, creating conditions that may lead to hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken, as per the National Weather Service.
According to the National Weather Service, today’s forecast calls for overcast skies with a high near 22 degrees. Wind chills may fall into the single digits below zero. On Monday, temperatures are expected to reach a high of about 17 degrees, with wind chills as low as minus 10 degrees and wind gusts up to 30 mph. Isolated snow showers or flurries are possible late Sunday afternoon and evening, with little to no accumulation expected.
Cold conditions are expected to continue through the week. The National Weather Service is forecasting additional chances of snow on Wednesday and again from Friday through Sunday. Daytime highs are expected to remain near freezing, with nighttime temperatures dropping into the teens. Tuesday may be slightly warmer, with a high near 25 degrees.
The National Weather Service advises residents to wear warm clothing, including hats and gloves, keep pets indoors, check on vulnerable individuals, and use portable heaters safely. Officials also warn against using generators or grills indoors.
