Residents of Indianapolis should brace for a mixed bag of weather this week, with the National Weather Service predicting a gradual move from cloudy skies to a possible rainy end. The forecast for today promises cloudy conditions initially before giving way to mostly sunny skies, with temperatures cresting near a chilly 33 degrees, the wind chill, however, pegging it closer to a biting 16 degrees, according to NWS.
As the evening draws in, the mercury is slated to dip to around 20 degrees, and the light north-northwest wind will not help matters much for those venturing out tonight. Sunday and its eve will see a notable uptick in cloud cover, setting in motion a prelude to a considerably warmer Monday, where the sun will reclaim the Hoosier skies, driving highs up near 48 degrees, the southwest wind helping somewhat to alleviate the chill in the air.
While the week will overall trend warmer, with Tuesday and Wednesday not straying far from the mid-50s during daylight hours, nighttime temperatures will hover in the more moderate upper 30s to low 40s zone. The latter half of the week hints at a wetter disposition; a 30 percent chance of rain late Wednesday night is just a teaser of what's to follow, as mentioned by the National Weather Service.
Rain chances increase on Thursday, with forecasters predicting a 60 percent likelihood of precipitation that is expected to continue into Friday. Cloudy conditions and rain are forecast Thursday night, with overnight temperatures dropping into the low 50s. Toward the end of the week, the probability of rain decreases slightly to around 50 percent, while temperatures remain near 60 degrees, according to weather officials.
