The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) East Central posted an update on road conditions following heavy snowfall. Overnight clearing improved some roads, but strong winds may blow snow back onto streets. Drivers are warned of hazardous conditions, particularly on highway ramps and merge areas.
INDOT East Central posted on Facebook: "Our crews worked through the night, starting to clear off some roads now that the snow has stopped falling. As you can see, it's still a mixed bag out there." Some areas received up to a foot of snow, with gusty winds threatening to undo plowing efforts.
Snow clearing has caused drifts on shoulders and near ramps, creating hazards for drivers. INDOT urges residents to stay home if possible, noting that roads may take time to become fully safe despite plowing efforts.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution, especially near interstate ramps and merge points. "Please use extra caution near interstate ramps and merge points," the INDOT East Central post advised. Plowing continues as crews work to restore safe road conditions.
