The City of Lawrence, in partnership with Arts for Lawrence, will host its annual Black History Month celebration on February 11 from 7 to 8 PM at the Theater at the Fort. The free event will feature performances including music, dance, and poetry, highlighting the richness of Black culture and heritage.
According to the City of Lawrence website, the celebration is open to all and aims to engage the community in honoring the ongoing contributions of Black artists and thinkers. Performer details will be announced closer to the event.
Local businesses and community leaders are expected to support the celebration, which also serves as an opportunity for education and dialogue around Black history. Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars and check the city’s website for updates.
