The suspect, 40-year-old Jorge Alberto Benitez, allegedly attacked the victim during a dispute over property, Local 10 News reported.

The victim told deputies that during the verbal dispute, Benitez stabbed him in the neck. The victim raised his hands to shield himself, but Benitez struck again, injuring his neck a second time and stabbing him in the chest. The victim was able to push Benitez away and escape to safety, later identifying him from a photograph provided by authorities, according to a Facebook post.

Later Sunday night, a dispatch regarding an unrelated disturbance led deputies to the 15300 block of Southwest 207th Avenue, where Benitez was arrested in the early hours of Monday. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office reported that he faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder and is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. His bond status has not yet been determined.
