A Miami Beach nightclub has come under intense scrutiny following the circulation of a video that captured a group of controversial influencers engaged in what appears to be a celebration of anti-Semitic content. The venue, Vendôme nightclub, allegedly played a notorious song by artist Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, which includes lyrics praising Adolf Hitler. The incident occurred on the weekend, and footage of the troubling scene has prompted officials and the community at large to voice their condemnation.
After the scenes at Vendôme surfaced, Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner spoke out against these actions, describing the individuals involved as "sick, demented people." Mayor Meiner is pushing for a full investigation, troubled by the tacit reception these figures seemed to have received at the club, despite their known controversial stance. As reported by NBC Miami, Mayor Meiner stated, "How did they get in here and seemingly welcomed into the club?" His words echoed a broader community distress over how easily such hateful sentiments echoed within the city’s nightlife.
Further disdain came from Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, who, in an announcement relayed by CBS News Miami, stated, "Hate has no home in Miami Dade County. Reports of Nazi slogans at a Miami Beach club are deeply disturbing and unacceptable." Miami Beach Commissioner Joe Magazine has also added his voice to the outcry, branding the incident "despicable" and demanding that Vendôme Nightclub take definitive action against any staff complicit in the events, as per NBC Miami.
In response, Vendôme has issued a public apology and condemned the incident, affirming that antisemitism or any form of hate does not align with their values. Their statement, detailed on their Instagram page, asserts, "We want to be unequivocally clear: Vendôme and our hospitality group do not condone antisemitism, hate speech, or prejudice of any kind." Vendôme has pledged to conduct an internal review, as stated in the statement provided by NBC Miami, confirming that "We are currently conducting an internal review to understand the circumstances surrounding how this requested song came to be played during a bottle parade, and we will take immediate action to hold the responsible parties accountable." The public's eye now remains fixed on the club for their follow-through on these promises.
