
The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued its latest forecast, and it appears that the city is in for some chilly and cloudy days ahead. According to a statement obtained by the National Weather Service, Nashville residents can expect patchy dense fog in the early hours of today, followed by mostly cloudy skies with a high near 37 degrees. Calm winds are expected to pick up slightly, veering eastward at around 5 mph.
As the evening sets in, the forecast indicates that the temperatures will dip to a low of around 23 degrees with calm winds shifting northeast. NWS Nashville notes a 20 percent chance of snow showers before noon on Friday. Temperatures will barely break the freezing point, coming in at a high near 34 degrees with a persistent north wind between 5 and 10 mph.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the weather service warns that Friday night could see a continuation of the 20 percent chance of snow showers, with temperatures plummeting to a low around 11 degrees. The wind chill effect is significant, potentially feeling as low as -1, as north northwest winds blow at around 10 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph.
The unforgiving weather seems set to continue through Saturday, with mostly cloudy conditions and a high near 22 degrees. The NWS warns of brisk north-northwest winds between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts surging as high as 25 mph. As night falls on Saturday, the mercury is expected to drop to about 9 degrees, although the northwest wind will ease slightly, blowing at 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
The latter part of the weekend could offer a smidgen of relief. According to NWS Nashville, Sunday will be partly sunny with a high near 30 degrees and calmer winds. But Nashville is not out of the wintry woods yet—the forecast for next week includes partly sunny skies with a high near 40 on Monday, followed by mostly cloudy days with temperatures hovering in the mid-40s. There's also a slight chance of showers coming Tuesday night through Wednesday.
