The Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police recently honored State Rep. Alaina Shonkwiler with the esteemed Legislator of the Year Award, acknowledging her dedication to public safety and law enforcement legislation. According to a press release from the Indiana House Republicans, the ceremony took place at the Statehouse on Wednesday, where the Noblesville representative was celebrated for her efforts.
Shonkwiler, representing District 29, stood at the forefront of initiatives aimed at bolstering the capacities of police forces, and the recognition comes as no surprise considering her consistent push for legislation that assists law enforcement in serving and protecting Indiana communities the association each year grants this award to one House Representative and one Senator with Shonkwiler taking home this year's accolade. Part of her work has been echoed in the halls of the Statehouse where the value of robust policing and community safety measures are continually debated and refined.
During the award presentation, Shonkwiler was joined by notable figures in Indiana policing including Noblesville Police Chief Brad Arnold and Deputy Chief Collin Whitesell. The event served as an emblem of shared commitment between legislators and law enforcement to address the ever-evolving challenges of maintaining safety and justice in the Hoosier state.
It's an alignment of missions that Chief Arnold and Deputy Chief Whitesell, both of whom flanked Shonkwiler in a moment captured in time, denote as essential for the prevailing welfare of their districts.
