A crash in Tippecanoe County early yesterday morning killed a female passenger, with icy road conditions cited as a contributing factor. According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, a 2016 Ford Focus lost control on State Road 25 near County Road 700 North and was struck by a Hyundai. The Ford then went off the road, and the Hyundai collided with a semi-tractor trailer.
The Ford’s driver was identified as 32-year-old Kendy Provins of Indianapolis, and the semi’s driver was 44-year-old Manno Laborde, WISH-TV reported. The female passenger who died was seated in the back of the Hyundai. Authorities plan to release her name after an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday.
While first responders were at the scene, a St. Joseph High School bus carrying nine students also lost control and went off the road near the crash site. FOX59 reported that no serious injuries occurred, and all passengers were treated and released.
All involved occupants were wearing seatbelts, and airbags deployed. Police do not currently suspect drugs or alcohol, WTHR reported. State Road 25 was closed for about five hours during the investigation and cleanup and has since reopened.
