Palm Beach County is implementing measures to address the challenges of climate change, including increased risks of flooding and extreme heat. Officials announced the final community workshops to gather input on the county’s Resilience Action Plan.
Following an extensive assessment conducted by consultants Tetra Tech, the plan outlines 30 initiatives designed to protect the county’s neighborhoods and infrastructure. These measures include floodproofing water treatment plants and expanding urban tree canopies, with the goal of reducing future risks related to changing climate patterns. Megan Houston, Director of Palm Beach County’s Built Environment Risk Reduction Division, noted that the plan combines data, planning, and collaboration to support long-term preparedness.
The final round of workshops is scheduled for today at the Belle Glade Civic Center and tomorrow at the Palm Beach County Main Library, according to Palm Beach County. The sessions will include an overview of the Resilience Action Plan’s findings, potential implementation steps, and light refreshments. Attendees are encouraged to register online to reserve a spot.
