State Sen. Dan Dernulc expressed support for Gov. Eric Braun’s recent address, which focused on affordability and public safety — issues that align with Dernulc’s legislative priorities.
Dernulc outlined his legislative priorities, including addressing rising NIPSCO utility costs, revising three-way permits in Schererville, combating human trafficking and child grooming, supporting those with substance abuse disorders, and piloting changes to Lake County local tax rounding.
According to the Indiana Senate Republicans' press release, the urgency of these concerns is palpable, as Dernulc acknowledges the pressing timeframe for action. "We have a lot of work to get done in a short amount of time, and I look forward to the discussions on these topics in the coming weeks," he stated. The brevity of the legislative session underscores the necessity for expedient, yet deliberate, discourse and decision-making on matters affecting Hoosiers across the state.
Dernulc’s priorities focus on public welfare and economic issues, reflecting alignment with the governor’s agenda. He and his colleagues in the Indiana General Assembly are preparing to tackle these challenges in the coming weeks.
