Miami smoke shops have experienced theft, with two businesses located just blocks apart targeted in separate incidents. The first occurred at Moalis Smoke Shop on NE 2nd Ave. around 3 a.m. last Saturday, and the second at The Joint Smoke Shop on Biscayne Boulevard approximately four days later.
Security footage from Moalis Smoke Shop, obtained by WSVN, showed suspects forcibly entering the store and taking merchandise. The burglars were seen leaving the premises with stolen items shortly afterward. Several days later, around 7 a.m. yesterday, The Joint Smoke Shop was targeted, with thieves taking more than $10,000 worth of merchandise, including vapes, CBD products, and a bong.
Surveillance footage from The Joint showed suspects breaking through the glass door with a rock to access the store’s inventory. One of the male suspects was heard referring to marijuana during the incident. The shop owner, who requested to remain anonymous, told Local 10 that they viewed the theft as a result of poor judgment and did not consider it a personal threat, despite the significant financial loss to the business.
The owner reported that the burglars did not take other items, including a full cash register and boxed inventory. Both stores are responding to the break-ins. Authorities have not confirmed a connection between the two incidents, and investigations are ongoing. The Miami Police Department asks anyone with information to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Tips can be submitted anonymously, and informants may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
