A quiet Saturday morning in South Shore turned into a homicide investigation when a 51-year-old man was found fatally shot inside a neighborhood home, authorities said. Police discovered the victim around 9:30 a.m. inside a residence in the 6700 block of South Jeffery Boulevard. He was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the man as 51-year-old Marcos Almeida. The medical examiner reported that Almeida sustained gunshot wounds to the head, chest, and back. No one was in custody as of Saturday, and Area 1 detectives have opened a homicide investigation.

Area 1 homicide detectives remained at the home as they processed the scene and canvassed nearby residences for witnesses and surveillance footage. Police have not released any suspect description or possible motive and said it could take time before more information is made public.
