State Senator David Niezgodski (D-South Bend) expressed his views on the recent developments regarding Senate Bill (SB) 248, which was not brought to a vote in the latest Education and Career Services Committee meeting. In a statement released by Indiana Senate Democrats, Niezgodski highlighted the importance of the collaborative efforts that led to a more careful consideration of the bill's potential effects.
Niezgodski noted that following yesterday’s committee hearing on Senate Bill 248, legislators are giving greater consideration to the bill’s potential impact. He credited collaboration with the South Bend School Administration, their attorney, and the School Board President for ensuring that effects on students, educators, and school communities were fully evaluated.
The senator emphasized that collaboration between legislators and local education stakeholders is key to crafting policies that benefit Indiana’s education system and families.
With over a month left in the legislative session, Niezgodski pledged to continue working with Senator Rogers to reach a resolution on SB 248 that the South Bend community can support.
