Last Monday's shooting in Antioch, resulting in an 11-year-old girl being seriously injured, has led to suspect Ryan Hardy turning himself in. The Antioch Police Department confirmed that the charges against Hardy include five counts of Attempted Homicide and Negligent Discharge of a firearm.
Hardy surrendered himself to the San Francisco Sheriff's Office after the incident, which occurred in the parking lot of an apartment complex located at 3915 Delta Fair Boulevard. The Antioch Police suggest the shooting could have been a tragic case of misidentification, with no criminal activity suspected from the victim's family. According to Hoodline, the young girl was seated in her family's vehicle when she was shot, and was later taken urgently to the Children's Hospital Oakland and is currently listed in stable condition.
This incident has again thrust the issue of gun violence into the public discourse, particularly when it disrupts and endangers the lives of the community's youngest members. In an ongoing effort to gather more information regarding the circumstances of the shooting, Detective John Cox of the Antioch Police Department has been assigned as the primary contact for tips, which can be directed to (925) 481-8147 or emailed to [email protected].
