The City of Bloomington has earned an 'A' grade from CDP, the global environmental disclosure platform, for 2025. This marks the second consecutive year the city has been recognized for its environmental transparency and efforts to address climate change, according to the City of Bloomington official statement.

Among 738 cities assessed globally by CDP, Bloomington was one of 120 to earn an ‘A’ grade for its climate action, transparency, and resilience strategies. The city not only disclosed environmental data but also demonstrated comprehensive climate planning and risk assessment. ‘Bloomington is proud to be recognized as one of the top sustainability leaders in the nation,’ said Shawn Miya, Assistant Director of Sustainability, noting the city’s grants and rebates that support residents, businesses, and non-profits in working toward net-zero emissions by 2050.

Bloomington earned an ‘A’ grade from CDP for its climate stewardship, meeting requirements for emissions disclosure, climate risk assessment, and a public climate action plan. Residents can explore the city’s efforts on the Climate Action Dashboard, which maps emissions, local climate risks, and mitigation strategies.

This recognition highlights the impact of local governance in promoting climate innovation and sustainability. Bloomington’s initiatives, including infrastructure investments and programs supporting a low-carbon future, demonstrate the city’s commitment to addressing climate change both locally and globally.
