An early morning fire damaged a restaurant and impacted a neighboring grocery store on Indianapolis’ south side Wednesday. Crews from the Indianapolis Fire Department and Decatur Township Fire Department responded around 2:30 a.m. to 1280 W. Southport Rd., home to Hot Pot Lovers restaurant and a small international grocery store, according to FOX59.
The fire reportedly started in the restaurant, which had been open for about a week, and spread to the neighboring grocery store. The grocery store mainly suffered smoke damage. Investigators have not determined the cause, WISH-TV reported. About 60 firefighters responded, and no injuries were reported.
No injuries were reported. Officials said earlier concerns about people living on the second floor of the grocery store were unfounded. The restaurant was closed at the time of the fire, WTHR reported.
Firefighters from the Indianapolis Fire Department and Decatur Township Fire Department worked together to contain the blaze. The restaurant suffered heavy damage, while the neighboring grocery store was impacted by smoke. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
