
Former Mount Dora High School teacher and football coach, Colby Erskin, age 39, was arrested in Sanford on allegations of child solicitation and sending harmful material to a minor. Local 10 News reported that Erskin, who previously taught and coached at South Plantation High School, was taken into custody yesterday by Seminole County deputies executing a Broward County warrant.
Details surrounding the arrest, provided by WFTV, state that Erskin was apprehended on Lake Mary Blvd and Botanical Way in Sanford. The arrest came after Erskin was allegedly found to have tried to egregiously take advantage of a 15-year-old girl, with body camera footage documenting the apprehension.
One victim's father, Yaniv Rosenberg, expressed his dismay in a statement obtained by Local 10 News, stating, "It hurts because you know there are monsters out there, you just don’t expect them to be in your circle." His daughter had courageously captured Erskin's inappropriate texts and nude photos using a friend's phone before confiding in her father about the unwanted advances.
Erskin's professional background, as defined by Local 10 News, spans several years within the education system. Reporting that he previously worked at South Plantation High School from August 2022 until his departure in August 2024. Erskin is no longer employed by the Lake County School District, and this was confirmed in a recent statement by district officials.
The case took a more serious turn when it was revealed that Erskin's conduct had escalated into the realm of criminality. He now faces serious allegations and, according to his appearance today before a Seminole County judge, is being held without bond.
