Fort Wayne Police Department officers were called to the scene of an armed robbery on February 4, leading to the recent arrest of two individuals, including a juvenile. The incident at Khai Fusion, reported on by the City of Fort Wayne official website, began with a suspect ordering a meal and subsequently fleeing without payment.
According to the police report, the business owner confronted the suspected robber who in response used pepper spray before making a quick escape. The Fort Wayne Police Department Street Crimes Unit (SCU) took over the case, working to track down those responsible for the crime. Identifying the suspected party led detectives to Riyana Harris, and during a routine traffic stop, they encountered both her and a juvenile on Tuesday.
During the stop on the 2500 block of Winch Street, detectives spotted marijuana in plain sight inside the vehicle, which provided the necessary probable cause for a vehicle search.
Authorities have since booked Riyana Harris into the Allen County Jail, while the juvenile involved in an unrelated theft investigation was sent to the Allen County Juvenile Center. "Suspect Arrested #1: Riyana Harris," notes the city's official statement, citing Harris' preliminary charges as a Level 3 Felony Armed Robbery resulting in bodily injury, and Class A Misdemeanor Criminal Trespass. The juvenile faces charges of theft and criminal trespass. A third juvenile present at the traffic stop was released without charges.
