Motorists navigating the south side of Indianapolis next week should brace for delays as INDOT East Central announces lane restrictions on I-465 and I-69 for roadway improvements and repairs. According to a social media post from the INDOT East Central, beginning Monday, the ongoing quest to ensure the safety and functionality of our roads continues with the left lane of I-465 westbound being shut down daily between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for barrier wall improvements between U.S. 31 and Bluff Road.
The lane closures are expected to last one week, and commuters should plan their routes accordingly. On Tuesday, northbound I-69 will have one lane closed from Southport Road to Epler Avenue daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. while the state addresses drainage issues.
Drivers should allow extra travel time or use alternate routes, as lane work will continue for a week. On Monday, shoulder work on I-465 will not close lanes, but motorists should remain alert for the safety of workers.
The lane restrictions, originally scheduled for January, were delayed due to weather. Motorists and residents can stay updated on traffic conditions through INDOT’s social media, traffic apps, or road signage before traveling.
