A Liberty City intersection turned into a crime scene Monday night after a man was shot multiple times and rushed to a Miami trauma center, authorities said. The gunfire erupted near Northwest 69th Street and 15th Avenue, where officers quickly sealed off the crossroads with yellow tape as investigators fanned out across the area. City officials have not released the victim’s name or updated his condition.
According to Local 10, a news crew arrived shortly after 10 p.m. to find police tape stretched across the entire intersection. Reporters observed detectives concentrating on a nearby business while several investigators photographed the ground, marked evidence and combed through the scene. So far, authorities have released few details and have not said whether anyone has been taken into custody.
Taken To Ryder Trauma Center
Miami Fire Rescue transported the wounded man to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, the region’s primary level-one trauma facility that handles some of South Florida’s most serious gunshot injuries. The Ryder Trauma Center highlights its round-the-clock emergency surgical and critical care capabilities on its website, but hospital officials have not provided any additional information about the patient in this case.
Police And Tip Line
Miami police are now working to piece together what led up to the shooting and who pulled the trigger. Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477. Crime Stoppers says tips can be given anonymously and may be eligible for a reward, and people who have video or other potential evidence are encouraged to submit it through the organization’s official channels.
Neighbors And The Bigger Picture
Residents in Liberty City told reporters the late-night violence feels unsettling and all too familiar, echoing broader concerns about safety in the neighborhood. Local outlets such as NBC 6 and WSVN have chronicled other recent shootings and officer-involved incidents in Liberty City in recent months, underscoring the persistent unease many neighbors say they live with night after night.
