Salty Days Fish Co. is steering its seafood-and-sushi operation into Marshfield, taking over the former Ocean House Coastal Grille space at The Shops at Ocean's Gate. Marshfield residents and co-owners Sean and Joanne McDaniel say the new outpost will stay true to the Cohasset menu while adding a full bar. The Marshfield Select Board signed off on the needed licenses on Jan. 12, and the team is eyeing a summer 2026 opening.
What’s Moving Into Ocean's Gate
As reported by WhatNow, Salty Days will set up shop at 1899 Ocean St inside The Shops at Ocean's Gate, taking over from Ocean House Coastal Grille, which shut its doors on Jan. 24. The move puts the restaurant in a busy retail corner near Webster Square that has seen more than a few restaurant handoffs in recent years.
Menu, Timeline And Owners' Note
In a social media post, co-owners Sean and Joanne McDaniel wrote that “Opening a location in Marshfield, our hometown, means so much to us,” and said the restaurant will bring Salty Days’ signature sushi, poke bowls and seafood-focused menu items, plus a full bar. The team is aiming for a summer 2026 debut, according to WhatNow.
Roots On The South Shore
Salty Days launched as a Hingham fish market in October 2020, then grew into a full-service restaurant on Cohasset's Main Street in 2022. The Hingham storefront closed in September 2023 as the owners focused on the restaurant concept, according to the Cohasset Anchor.
About The Center
Commercial listings describe The Shops at Ocean's Gate as a roughly 40,000-square-foot lifestyle center at the intersection of Ocean Street and Webster Street, with a mix of local and national tenants and plenty of parking. Property details for 1899 Ocean St show a 1,300–2,200-square-foot suite that lines up with the retail space Salty Days will need, per LoopNet.
The Marshfield opening will give Salty Days another South Shore foothold as the brand grows beyond its Cohasset flagship. We will update this space once the owners announce a firm opening date and final menu details.
