Two young girls reported kidnapped out of Tennessee are safe after a late-night traffic stop on Interstate 81 in South Middleton Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Troopers say they pulled over a vehicle Sunday night, found the children inside, and arrested two adults who are now being held in Cumberland County pending extradition back to Tennessee.
State police were alerted just before midnight Sunday and tracked down the vehicle in question, a 2025 gray Nissan Rogue, near mile marker 44.0 on I-81 north. Both girls were found unharmed inside the car, according to FOX 25.
Troopers identified the adults as Henry Rodriguez, 36, of Allentown, and Ana Rodriguez Gonzalez, 60, of Tamaqua. Both were taken into custody at the scene, transported to Cumberland County Prison, and are being held pending extradition to Tennessee, as reported by WGAL.
Investigators have not said how, or if, the adults are related to the girls, and police have not released information about specific charges. The case remains an active investigation, according to KOKH.
What Happens Next
The two adults remain in county custody while authorities in Pennsylvania and Tennessee coordinate possible extradition and determine any formal charges. Local officials say the investigation is ongoing and have asked anyone with information to contact the Pennsylvania State Police Carlisle station, per WGAL.
How Police Say the Recovery Unfolded
Wire and local reports credit a quick state police response to the late-night alert, which allowed troopers to spot and stop the Nissan on I-81 and recover the children. Both girls were found unharmed, according to coverage of the state police account by AOL.
