Early this morning, a report of a break-in at a Dorchester apartment building led to the arrest of 37-year-old George Williams from Quincy. According to the Boston Police Department's official report, the incident occurred at 1220 Adams Street where officers from District C-11 responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress around 4:30 AM.
Upon their arrival, responding officers encountered a male who matched the suspect description provided. The man, who was later identified as Williams, was found in the apartment building's lobby and was subsequently detained. In the course of the investigation, the residents of the targeted apartment revealed they had been awoken by someone inside their residence turning off the circuit breakers which controlled their lighting. They then noticed an unknown Black male wearing a black puffer jacket moving items inside the apartment.
In a statement made by the Police Department, the residents explained they had seen this same man the previous day when he allegedly covered their door peephole with black tape. At that time, he had claimed to be at the wrong address. Reinvestigating this detail, they discovered the peephole was once again concealed with tape when they left their apartment to articulate their ordeal to the arriving officers. Based on this and further investigation, Williams was arrested and set to face arraignment in the Dorchester District Court. The charges pressed against Williams include, "Breaking and Entering at Night" and "Trespassing."
