
Tragedy struck Vigo County over the weekend when two individuals lost their lives as a result of a car crash. The incident occurred early in the morning on Saturday, on East US Highway 40 at the intersection with Tabortown Street, not far from Seelyville, as reported by WTHI-TV.
The Vigo County Sheriff's Office said they received a call just after 7 a.m. on Jan. 31. Upon arrival, they discovered a two-vehicle crash had occurred. No details regarding the specifics that led to the crash have been released yet, and the Sheriff's office has not yet disclosed the identities of those involved, as confirmed by the office to WTHR. The road was closed for multiple hours, disrupting local traffic as investigators took to the scene.
The Sheriff's department deployed its fatal accident reconstruction team to thoroughly investigate the details of the collision. After a few hours, it was confirmed by authorities that the crash had resulted in two fatalities, according to WAWV/WTWO. Eventually, East US Highway 40, a vital artery for the nearby communities, was reopened to traffic.
