The Castro's US Bank location at 443 Castro Street will reopen a year and a half after a 1-alarm fire severely damaged it.
According to a sign posted in the window, US Bank reopens its Castro branch on Monday, March 16.
The reopening comes after the entire bank was demolished following the August 2024 fire. Public records indicate the demolition cost $150,000.
Following the demolition, construction crews remodeled the entire bank. Construction costs were estimated at $1,649,600.
The fire, which started in the rear of the building, alarmed many by how close the flames and smoke were to the Castro Theatre. Ultimately, the Castro Theatre did not sustain any damage from the fire.
Loom + Ten Global Queer Art Gallery (2323 Market)
Castro art gallery, Loom + Ten Global Queer Art Gallery, has closed after nine months in the Castro.
Loom + Ten had been temporarily closed since December, but its owner, Adam-Michael Royston, tells Hoodline the closure is now permanent.
Royston explained that an ongoing maintenance issue at the shop has resulted in the business permanently closing.

Loom + Ten opened in May 2025 in the former Mikroblack space.
Royston tells Hoodline that the closure is due in part to low sales. "We have lots of folks come in and foot traffic but not a lot of buyers," explained Royston. "It goes to a larger issue I think we have in the Castro regarding tourism. People aren't coming to the Castro to buy fine art."
Royston says he's open to the idea of relocating in the Castro, but he's also considering other locations, including downtown.
The closure comes with a bit of controversy after artist Jun Yang claimed on Instagram that they have not received payment and several pieces remain in Loom + Ten's possession.
Royston disputes those claims, telling Hoodline, "The allegations being circulated online are false and contradicted by documented records. The artist elected to cancel the consignment agreement, which ended the gallery's ability to continue sales and required that the artworks be retrieved."
Royston states the artist was given multiple opportunities to retrieve their works.
"Claims regarding nonpayment are also inaccurate and misrepresent how paymentes are handled under the agreement," added Royston. "Any payments due are subject to reconciliation of confirmed sales, cleared funds, and contractual terms."

566 Castro Street
The Castro will soon have another massage business.
