A fatal shooting on Indianapolis' east side left one person dead Tuesday, after police found a victim shot inside a vehicle on Decamp Drive near East 38th Street and North Post Road. The discovery was made in the 3600 block of Decamp Drive, where investigators stayed on scene into the evening as detectives worked to collect evidence and document the area. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has launched a homicide investigation.
According to WTHR, IMPD officers found the victim inside a vehicle, and medics pronounced the person dead at the scene. Police have not released any details about a suspect or possible motive, and detectives say they are tracking down leads as they come in.
Same East Side Block Has Faced Earlier Gunfire
This part of Decamp Drive has already seen trouble this month. WRTV reported that officers previously responded to the 3500 block of Decamp Drive, where a man was found with gunshot wounds and taken to a hospital in critical condition. Together, the incidents highlight the tough task ahead for detectives trying to sort out suspects and motives on this stretch of the east side.
