Franklin’s long-anticipated Chick-fil-A is officially open, serving up the chain’s signature chicken sandwich at 2430 N. Morton Street and kicking things off with a five-figure gift to a major local food bank.
City officials celebrated Thursday’s debut with photos of the new dining room and a ceremonial check presentation to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, shared on the city’s official Facebook page alongside the all-caps caption, “today is the day we have all been waiting for!!!,” according to the City of Franklin. Franklin had been listed as one of six new metro-Indianapolis restaurants slated for 2026, and Chick-fil-A notes it donates $25,000 to Feeding America partner food banks to mark each new opening, per a Chick-fil-A press release.
Where It Sits
The company’s locations page lists the new Franklin restaurant at 2430 N. Morton St., at the busy U.S. 31 corridor on the north side of town, according to Chick-fil-A. City planning documents identify the property as Commerce Point — Lot 2 at the northwest corner of U.S. 31 and Commerce Drive, with maps and site plans for the project included in a City of Franklin planning packet.
Donation to Local Food Bank
Among the photos shared by the city is a ceremonial $25,000 check made out to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, mirroring Chick-fil-A’s practice of giving $25,000 to Feeding America partner food banks when a new restaurant opens. The images appear in the city’s Facebook post from opening day, per the City of Franklin, while Gleaners describes itself as the region’s largest hunger-relief agency, serving Johnson County along with 20 other counties.
What It Means for Jobs and the Neighborhood
Chick-fil-A’s Indianapolis-area expansion is expected to create up to 600 full- and part-time jobs across six new restaurants, according to the Chick-fil-A press release, and local postings show the Franklin site hiring for multiple positions. Ahead of the grand opening, the Franklin restaurant hosted a dedication dinner the week before launch, according to an Eventbrite listing for a March 17 dedication event, and the restaurant’s Franklin page lists career opportunities for prospective applicants.
For Franklin, the arrival of Chick-fil-A adds another national name to the Commerce Point development and pairs it with a visible corporate donation that connects directly to local hunger-relief efforts. City leaders and nonprofit partners welcome the jobs and cash infusion, while Gleaners routes the funds into food distribution programs serving Johnson County and beyond.
