A 25-year-old man was found dead inside his vehicle after a crash on 13400 South in Riverton on Saturday evening, according to authorities. The vehicle reportedly hit another car near the Chick-fil-A, then came to rest by a Chase Bank as first responders arrived around 7 p.m. Officials say the man had a gunshot wound to the right side of his head, and the case remains under active investigation.
As reported by KUTV, Riverton City Public Information Officer Nate Slack said the driver was heading westbound on 13400 South toward the Mountain View Corridor when the collision occurred. Officers then discovered a gunshot wound to the right side of the man's head and found a gun on the driver's side floorboard. A bullet had shattered the driver's window, according to the city PIO. Witnesses told KUTV they saw the man driving recklessly before the crash. Herriman police are assisting in notifying the man's next of kin while Riverton investigators continue to process the scene.
