A shooting on Indianapolis' near east side left one person dead and another in critical condition early yesterday, according to police. Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were called to the 200 block of North Tacoma Avenue and found two people with gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced one victim dead at the scene and rushed the other to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
IMPD confirmed that officers were dispatched to the address Sunday and that one person was pronounced dead while the second was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The shooting remains under investigation, according to FOX59.
Police: Investigation Underway
Detectives spent Sunday canvassing the neighborhood and processing the scene for evidence. Investigators had not released any information about possible suspects or a motive, and no arrests had been reported as of the latest update.
East-Side Violence And Community Response
This incident adds to a string of recent violence on the near east side and follows earlier episodes that have left neighbors uneasy. In a February case, detectives again turned to the community and asked residents to check doorbell and dash-cam video for anything that might help move the investigation forward.
What To Expect Next
Homicide detectives are expected to release more details as they interview witnesses and review evidence from the scene. This story will be updated when IMPD provides additional information or announces any arrests.
